About CEM
For many years, the CEM has provided entry exams for independent schools, and in 2013, it began to gain traction in the grammar school sector, with several areas and schools preferring to use the CEM tests instead of the GL Assessment test.
Exam types:
Verbal reasoning , Non-verbal reasoning and Numerical reasoning
Exam length
2x 50-minute exams, which can be either multiple-choice or standard depending on the area concerned.
Pass mark
There is not a fixed pass mark for the admissions test, instead only the top 25% of candidates are considered eligible for entry each year.
Other exam information:
Each paper contains both multiple-choice and standard format questions. Scores will be standardised, age-weighted and combined into a total standardised age score.
